DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT
SILVER SPRING, MD

The project contains the American Film Institute, Discovery's headquarters, 600,000 square feet of retail, 200,000 square feet of office, a 150 room hotel, and new parking garages containing 3,500 parking spaces.

ZHA was retained by the Montgomery County Council to evaluate the draft joint development agreement between the County and the private developers. ZHA suggested a number of changes to the Draft Agreement, all of which were ultimately incorporated to protect the County's interest. The Development Agreement was executed and Phase I of the Project is complete. ZHA was also asked to critique the fiscal impact analysis prepared for the Project.
