DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT
SILVER SPRING, MD

The project contains the American Film Institute, Discovery's headquarters, 600,000 square feet of retail, 200,000 square feet of office, a 150 room hotel, and new parking garages containing 3,500 parking spaces.

W-ZHA was retained by the Montgomery County Council to evaluate the draft joint development agreement between the County and the private developers. W-ZHA suggested a number of changes to the Draft Agreement, all of which were ultimately incorporated to protect the County's interest. The Development Agreement was executed and Phase I of the Project is complete. W-ZHA was also asked to critique the fiscal impact analysis prepared for the Project.
