OF AMERICA: BLOOMINGTON, MN
The City of
Bloomington, Minnesota acquired a prime 100-acre site which was formerly
the location of a stadium for the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. ZHA was
retained to prepare master plans for the site and to package the development.
ZHA then assisted the City in identifying developers for the project.
ZHA guided the Port Authority in the selection of the preferred developer,
the Triple Five Corporation.
ZHA represented the City in the negotiations, which led to the execution
of a development agreement between Triple Five and the Port Authority.
This project was opened in summer of 1992 as the Mall of America and is
one of the largest shopping malls in the world.
